Tottenham are yet to make a final decision regarding the future of Timo Werner.

Ange Postecoglou was keen on reinforcing his attack midway through the season, as a result, the North London club ended up securing the services of Timo Werner on a short loan. The deal also includes a buy option but according to a report from the Bild, Tottenham are yet to initiate contact with RB Leipzig and time is running out.

While the North London club did well to cope with the departure of Harry Kane by deploying Son Heung-min as a striker, the switch meant Spurs didn’t have much depth in the front three. That is why they knocked on Leipzig’s door in the winter transfer window to bring Werner back to the Premier League.

The 28-year-old whose big-money move to Chelsea in 2020 didn’t go according to plan, agreed to return to London as he was not getting regular first-team action at the German club. Since joining Tottenham, he has featured in 14 matches and has contributed towards five goals (2 goals, 3 assists).

While he has put in some impressive performances and has proven to be a great addition to the Spurs attack for the second half of the season, Tottenham are yet to make a decision regarding his future.

They haven’t established contact with Leipzig and are yet to inform them whether they will trigger the €17 million buy option included in his loan deal. The buy option in his deal expires on 14th June. With time running out, Spurs need to come up with a decision soon.
