Caitlin Clark will be fine in WNBA preseason debut due to one obvious reason
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Caitlin Clark is about to make her preseason debut in the WNBA , and it’s making her and the Indiana Fever fans feel excited. And how can’t they? Clark is perhaps the most hyped WNBA prospect in league history. She has taken the popularity of women’s hoops to a higher level at least in terms of attention. Suddenly, people have started to watch and follow women’s basketball closer than they’ve ever had before.

Caitlin Clark is the real and the rest of the WNBA world is about to find out about that soon.

Caitlin Clark is Raring to Go in WNBA Preseason

Some may have some concerns about Clark’s form heading into her WNBA preseason debut on Friday versus the Dallas Wings, but rust seems to be the last of her problems.

Via Michele Steele of ESPN:

Caitlin Clark told me she’s ready for Friday’s preseason game – “I’ve been playing basketball the last six months…It is a quick turnaround, but I couldn’t be more excited. Our goal this year is get back to the playoffs.”

She’s right, though. It was just last March and April when she and the Hawkeyes played in the 2024 NCAA Tournament where they reached the national championship game. The Hawkeyes failed to beat the South Carolina Gamecocks in the title game, but Clark looked fantastic in that contest, scoring 30 points and adding eight rebounds and five assists.

In four years with the Hawkeyes, Clark averaged 28.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 8.2 assists through 139 games, while also draining 4.2 percent of her attempt from the field.

Indiana Fever’s 2024 WNBA Schedule

After playing the Wings on Friday, Clark and the Fever will next play the Atlanta Dream in another preseason game on May 10. Her regular-season debut in the WNBA is expected to take place on May 14 in a road game versus the Connecticut Suns.
